Lorine Scott, President

Lorine is a Family Nurse Practitioner, currently delivering primary health care services to some of the hardest to reach children and their family's in Vancouver's inner city neighbourhoods. Graduating from the University of Victoria in 2005 with a Masters in Nursing she licenced as a Nurse Practitioner (Family) in 2006. Lorine has been active in the field of childrens' health for over 30 years, with expertise in pediatric oncology and children with craniofacial birth defects. Health care leadership positions have included employment as Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Services at BCCH and as the clinical lead of an interdisciplinary subspeciality team in craniofacial care. She has been active in providing policy input in the area of childrens health both provincially and nationally and is adjunct faculty at the University of British Columbia, School of Nursing. Lorine has served on the BCNPA executive team since 2006, as a past president and more recently as the Web Operations Team Coordinator. She resides in Vancouver, and enjoys the antics of her children, stepchildren and her grandchildren on a regular basis. On becoming the BCNPA president for the second time, she states "I am passionate about the very valuable role that nursing and especially nurse practitioners bring to the health care system, and most importantly to our patients. Our unique blend of medicine and nursing is an innovative, cost effective and very effective role that will improve access to care and health outcomes for British Columbians".
Rosemary Graham, President Elect

Rosemary Graham is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has a family practice at a Community Health Center where she manages her patients as part of a multidisciplinary health team. Rosemary came to BC from the Yukon Territory in 2004 as a consultant to VCHA developing the role of the NP in urban primary care. She co authored the Standards of Practice for Community Health Nurses in Canada and was on the advisory board of the Canadian Nurse Practitioner initiative. Rosemary has a keen interest in developing the collaborative role of the NP in British Columbia and brings a commitment to advanced practice nursing and practical experience to her new role as President Elect of BCNPA.
Lynn Guengerich (Immediate Past, President)

Lynn received a Bachelors of Science in nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Arkansas State University in 1986 and Master of Science and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Texas Woman's University in 1994. Lynn has been certified in the US as a PNP by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and is a fellow of that organization. She currently works at Access Midwifery & Family Care in Victoria where she partners with another family nurse practitioner and midwives to provide primary care to children and families. She is also an adjunct assistant professor for the University of Victoria School of Nursing.
Kathleen Fyvie (Past - Past-President)
Kathleen has had the exciting and challenging opportunity to develop a role as the first NP in a Trauma Service in BC. RCH is the tertiary trauma facility for the Fraser Health Authority and in January 2008, the RCH Trauma Service introduced a collaborative NP/Physician team dedicated to providing optimum care to multiply-injured trauma patients.
Kathleen has held executive positions with BCNPA and been involved in conference-planning since the association was formalized in 2005. “I am committed to build on our momentum in working with government, health authority and public stakeholders to facilitate integration of all licensed NPs to improve access and enhance quality of healthcare for British Columbians.”

Mark Schultz (Treasurer)
Mark works with the orthopedic reconstruction team at UBC hospital, managing postoperative patients. He met a nurse practitioner for the first time in 1988 in a remote village just a little north of the Aleutian chain in Alaska, found himself called to the work, and so started his educational journey. Mark received his BSN from the University of Alaska, Anchorage and his MN-NP at University of British Columbia Vancouver. He is licensed in British Columbia, Washington and Alaska as an NP, and enjoys the perspective that working in different healthcare systems brings.
Having lived remotely for many years, Mark enjoys the metropolitan experiences Vancouver provides, but also enjoy the chance to get back out to the bush, most recently for a six week locum in Klawock Alaska. He joined the BCNPA as a student and have remained active since.
Karen McLoughlin (Secretary)
Karen is currently registered as an Adult Nurse Practitioner with the CRNBC and is working with the Acute General Surgery Service at Vancouver General Hospital. In this role she is an interdisciplinary team member responsible for co-managing surgical patients throughout their admission (emergency to follow up outpatient clinic assessment), as well as providing an advanced practice nursing resource to the interdisciplinary team. She is an avid skier and volunteer on the Blackcomb Ski Patrol. She also sits on the Nurse Practitioner Standards committee for CRNBC.
Karen’s nursing background includes research, cardiovascular/thoracic, emergency and ICU.
Karen has been an active participant in the BCNPA general membership and looks forward to further contributions as an executive member.

Stan Marchuk (Regional Representative- Vancouver Coastal Region)

Stan is a Family Nurse Practitioner and is working with patients with end stage renal disease in the area of hemodialysis. His work involves complex care management of patients and families. He is part of interdisciplinary team that strives to provide excellence in patient care. Stan obtained a diploma in nursing from Okanagan College in 1994, a bachelors degree from University of Victoria 1997 and masters degree with family nurse practitioner specialization from University of Victoria in 2009.
In his career he has worked in a vast array in clinical areas (Critical Care, Cardiology, Surgery, Primary Care, Orthopedics and Nephrology) He obtained specialized nephrology training and certification and has worked with this population for a good majority of his career. Stan has also worked in leadership and management roles where he was responsible for system utilization and management and strategic information development. He also is adjunct faculty with the University of Victoria School of Nursing. His interests are in health promotion and informatics and political action, especially as it relates to the role of advanced practice nurse integration and utilization in the Canadian healthcare system.
Carrie Murphy (Regional Representative- Fraser Health Region)

Carrie is a Family Nurse Practitioner and member of an interdisciplinary team in a full service family practice in Langley, BC. Her clincal focus is Seniors health including frail seniors living in residential care facilities. She has 20 years of experience in older adult health in various clinical and management roles but finds the NP role the most rewarding of all.
Toby Hilton (Regional Representative - Northern Health Region)

Toby works as a Family Nurse Pracititioner in Prince Rupert. Her responsibilities include working at a Family Practice clinic, Maternity clinic, Longterm Care facility, and Cancer Surveillance Program. On the side, she works as a Travel Medicine consultant. Toby completed her BSN and MN degrees at UVIC, in her hometown of Victoria. Her nursing background includes Public health, Outpost Nursing, and Medical-Surgical Nursing. She has long been an advocate for providing access to care for marginalized populations and for advancing the NP model of patient-centered, holistic care in general. Toby balances her work life with her love fro the outdoors (especially snowboarding), as well as yoga and gardening.

Coleen Heenan (Regional Representative - Vancouver Island Region)
Coleen completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Portland, Oregon and her post master’s NP certificate at BCIT. Coleen's current practice is as an NP (Adult) in a Seniors Health Outpatient Clinic in Victoria (VIHA). She taught for 10 years for the University of Victoria, School of Nursing, most recently within the Nurse Practitioner Program, and is currently adjusting to being employed in one role, that of Nurse Practitioner.
Annaliese Hasler (Student Rep)
Since completing her BSN degree through the University of Victoria, Annaliese has worked in a variety of settings including international community health, acute medicine, kidney health, palliative care and teaching 1st &2nd year nursing students at Camosun College. Coupled with her work experience, her desire to create equitable, accessible health care led her to the UBC MN NP program. Annaliese is now in her last year of studying, and in her free moments outside of school work and clinical she finds herself rallying her classmates to engage in community events in an effort to raise public awareness towards the presence of NPs in BC.
Annaliese looks forward to being a firsthand resource and creating access for people to receive basic primary care. She feels it is an exciting role to be pioneering in British Columbia. She hopes to eventually return to the international arena to provide basic health care to communities in need, and raise awareness towards the need for global health repair.
